Here we go....

I have an answer to something that has been driving me INSANE for 2 weeks.

Remember back a few weeks ago, my house just didn't seem to get over being sick? I ended up with the stomach flu, then I was fine, took care of my sick daughter, then (sorry for the bluntness) I had a bad case of diarrhea, got better just in time to take care of my son, who ended up with the stomach flu, then again ended up with diarrhea again!! Even the two girls I babysat seemed to come down with something similar along with throat issues, which Syd finally got over Memorial day weekend. It was a never ending cycle of sickness......

Well, because of the illness, I ended up 2 weeks late on my period (Sorry once again for the TMI but it is my blog. lol.). I was sorta excited as Hubby and I are going to attempt baby number 3, however, after 3 pregnancy tests (days apart) I realized that I was definitely NOT preggo. I was disappointed. I just wanted to get my cycle back on schedule so I could start trying again and nothing was happening...

Till today. The irritability set in so I knew....and sure enough it is here. I am so glad to know that it was just big time late and there is nothing wrong.

My baby girl

With all the craziness that the month of May brought, I have let my daughter's birthday celebration slip away.

We did the cake, the friends and family, and I held onto her even tighter that day, but I didn't get a chance to do a post about my beautiful baby girl who turned the big girl 3.

So here's to you little one. Happy 3rd birthday!

Our baby girl Sydney......

Birth Day.....she was precious.

Sydney at Age one......

Age 2.....The sassy comes out.....

Finally, you, our baby, at age 3. Still sassy, yet sweet sweet Syd.

Happy belated to you. We love you.

What's shaking?

I am doing better. Why does it come and go? It knocks me out like a HUGE gust of wind. I'm exhausted and feel dehydrated and dizzy. It is terrible, but over. For. Now.

Noah had a fever for one day. It broke over night and has been fine ever since. He tells me he just has a cold Mommy and quit worrying. But I worry. For I am a Mom.
Weekend plans are planned. A lot of picnics, outings, and a scrapbook party I scheduled hoping people would be free and nah....for I am having a party for 2. Nice huh? We got a shindig on Saturday evening, my party on Sunday for 2 (lol) I can't help but giggle, and we are heading to PA from Sunday into Monday. Then another picnic Monday evening on our way home. Busy busy, but it is the kickoff to summer, so you will NOT hear me complain :)

In other news......

Noah is counting down the days till school is out. He is loving his growing independence of running around outside with his friends. We went to cub scouts last night and for the activity we planted bulbs and mulched around the church. This was right up Noah's alley. He loves to plant and get his hands in the dirt....he found a few earthworms during his digging. That made his day. (Sorry I have no pictures to share this time of him. I feel terrible but he is always at school or running around and I can never catch him!) I can't wait for school to be out so I can start snapping some shots of him.

Syd is getting more and more verbal with what she wants and what she is thinking about and it is cracking us up. For example, this is our conversation at dinner last night (on the deck at that).

Syd pulls down her shirt and points to her boobies. "I have boobies." She says this with a huge smile.

I said, "Yep those are your boobies."

She proceeds, "Mommy has BIG boobies!" The most enormous smile ever which breaks into a giggle.

Hubby, "Yes Syd Mommy has BIG boobies and you are not going to have those." Hubby wants Syd to fall out of the ugly tree at age 12 but I don't see that happening. So protective.

I was cracking up. And my protective Noah says, "Stop picking on Mommy's big boobies!"

Oh I was really rolling.

Gotta love dinnertime conversations.

This is the shirt (gift from her birthday party) she had on, very easy to access her boobies (note to self):

Animals and sickness

Today the Moms and I took our kids to a local animal park. It was very nice and perfect for a little outing. They got to feed the Fallow deer and goats, see monkeys, a bear getting a bath, and feed a camel. The park had a nice picnic area for us to eat at, so the kiddos ate away while we Moms got to chat. It was a LOVELY day and a great trip with the best group of women I have ever met. Seriously. I have SUPER friends.

Anywho...I will upload those pics and share a few tomorrow. Right now I need to vent.

I got sick again today. Third time in 2 weeks. Stomach again. No puking...just nausea and diarrhea (as if you wanted to know that right?) But, I just can't seem to get rid of this. I have SCOURED my house and disinfected every area. I babysit 2 girls, both of which have been sick as well, my son, and my daughter. But me...3 freaking times.

Noah, however, has a fever tonight. He says his throat hurts. This is a symptom that has occurred with the 2 girls I babysit. I pray he doesn't wake up tonight vomiting. I don't know if I have the energy for this again.

I just want the plague out of my home.

And just to make sure I called my neighbor Amy and she came over with a pregnancy test she had leftover from her last one so I took it. It is negative. Hubby and Amy swear there is a FAINT VERY FAINT line that makes a plus....I think they are on crack. There is no plus.

I wish it was because at least there would be a reason to all this sickness.

Enough whining here. Thanks for the ears...or should I say eyes???

I did it again...

I did it again...I screwed up.

Sydney got a new bike from us for her birthday and a cute little helmet. She has been practicing her peddling techniques through the house and she has gotten so good she has taken on the driveway. After she has mastered that, I thought I would venture out with her on our community road.

Today I pushed the little one I babysit in the stroller along side my girl in her big girl Barbie bike. She was doing so well all the way around the circle by our house. So we come to the small hill heading down toward our house and she picked up too much speed. She freaked out and tumbled over. The back of her head it the ground and bounced!! Thank God she had her helmet on because the only thing it did was scare her. She had no cuts or scratches, but just trembled from the scare.

I picked her up but she didn't want to get back on the bike. *Side note* My son who is 6 fell off his bike at 4 and rarely gets on it...I am SO afraid Syd will do the same.

She LOVES her bike. :(

I went upstairs and read her a book. After the book, I talked to her about how it was Mommy's fault because I should have held on, so she wouldn't go down the hill so fast. I said, "I'm a bad Mommy. Mommy will hold on tonight when we ride. No more falling down." She said, "I otay Mommy. I no fall Mommy." So, I pray that she will get back on tonight and I promise to stand by her side.

The theory of your children should wear helmets was proven today. Keep those helmets on. The force her head would have taken to the asphalt would have sent us to the ER. But because of that helmet, she is fine.

But I still feel terrible. I should have seen it coming.

Weekend Wrap up

WOW.....whatta weekend.

Let me wrap it up with the major details and some a picture slideshow.

Noah and I had a blast on his Cub Scouts camping trip Friday night into Saturday. We set up out tent, made a bonfire, toasted marshmallows, giggled ourselves to sleep, slept like babies thanks to Mary's Insta-bed, got up WAY too early, had a yummy breakfast, played kickball, went on a hike, played on the playground, cleaned up camp, went fishing, and then had lunch. It was a perfect trip for the 2 of us. He learned a lot about nature and had a good time with his troop. And I have been asked to be Den leader....I took the job. :) A new adventure for both of us.

Then, I worked my butt off Saturday to get things ready for Sydney's birthday party on Sunday. She turned 3!! I can't believe it!! Her party was great. The kids seemed to have a good time. A big thanks to my brother Andy and my sister-in-law Deanna for providing the moon bounce room for the kids. They had a great time in it (especially Syd who we could only get her out for cake and presents) lol. Thank you to the beautiful Princess who came to blow bubbles and paint the girls' nails. They thought you were ENCHANTING. Thank you to my Mom and Dad and Grandfather for helping with balloons and food. And a big thank you to all who came to celebrate Syd's big day. She LOVED having all the "people" here. (That is what she told me)!C

A day late, but at least it has been done for me since Sunday. I wanted to share a great blog that I follow for menus and recipes. I have shared it before, but she has recently added her templates for her menu plans. They are a great way to organize your week and they are FREE!! It is so nice when others share because it saves time! Cynthia's blog is What's for Dinner?

Sunday: Grilled fish, grilled potatoes, and corn

Monday: Baked chicken (olive oil and seasoning), rice, and gravy with corn

Tuesday: Penne with spaghetti sauce, hamburger and mozzarella & garlic bread

Wednesday: Baked fish, baked potatoes with butter and sour cream, and broccoli with cheese

Thursday: Hot dogs and beans

Friday: Camping trip with Noah and the Tiger Cubs. Hubby is on his own with Syd

Saturday: Out to dinner when we get home from camping trip

Grilled Potatoes Recipe

Grilled Potatoes Tutorial

My parents introduced these to us years ago and that is all it took. Hubby was stuck on them. Since then we have been telling people how to make them and passing it on because they are so YUMMY and easy to make when grilling out.

So here is how to do it:

1. First Step: Peel and cut your potato into small cubes.

2. Place each potato on its own GREASED piece of foil.

3. Add butter and seasonings. We like ours with about 1 tsp of butter or Olive oil and seasoned salt, paprika or chili powder and pepper.

4. Pull sides up to create a pocket and fold.

5. Roll the ends to keep from leaking while grilling.

6. have your individually wrapped potatoes ready to grill. Hubby grills them on low-medium heat for about 20 minutes. Open to check if you want to make sure they are done.

7. There you go!! Dig in!! Tender, juicy and seasoned just right for a great side dish with your grilled chicken, fish, pork, or steak!! You could add peppers, onions, veggies, or whatever you prefer. DELICIOUS :)

Mother's Day

It plans to sleep in on Mother's Day were interrupted at 4:30 in the morning with my six year old coming to me (after just falling asleep at 2 am cuz Hubby and I were drinking slushies with neighbors till then) and complaining that his belly hurt. He told me he was hungry. I went back to his bed with him and laid down. I asked him to try to go back to sleep and we would eat a big breakfast in the morning.

Well, at 5:00 he woke back up and said he had to puke. So, for the next 5 hours I sat up with him while he vomited and had terrible, uncontrollable cases of diarrhea. I felt terrible. I felt responsible even though I tried not to pass it and had no control over it. But you can not avoid all the germs in the world. I did my best to stop it, but it was inevitable. He is starting to feel better. I know because he is back to his old antics picking on his sister.

So, finally about 11 am, he stopped the vomiting and diarrhea and was able to rest during the afternoon. Sydney and I went outside to enjoy the gorgeous day while he slept on the couch. We planted a few flowers and Syd did the watering. She was having so much fun! The dress she has one was an early birthday present from her Grandma and Pappy. It is adorable on her :)

This morning Hubby and the kids presented me with the gifts they made for me. I got a picture with Syd, but after Noah gave me his, I turned out to get a picture with him and he was asleep on the couch. Poor guy was down and out. He made me tissue flowers and put it in a vase with his name on it. Hubby, Syd, and a little help from a couple of my friends (Thanks Amy and Tiffany) created an adorable picture for me. Hubby had made me one of Noah when he was 3 years old, so now I can hang the two together in my foyer.

Thank you Hubby for a wonderful Mother's Day!! I love you guys!!

Noah's Sleepover with his BFF

Noah is having his best friend ever over for a sleepover tonight. They are laying on the floor watching Star Wars The New Hope and eating popcorn.
They have been friends since the beginning of time. They first met when Riley was almost one and Noah was almost 6 months.

A couple weeks ago, I heard them playing in the basement and they had this conversation.

Noah: You are my best friend.

Riley: We are going to be best friends FOREVER.

Noah: Yeah even when we get old.

Riley: Yeah REALLY old.

They are only six but they know the true meaning of friendship. Now why can't we adults be like that??

I have totally had it!!!!!

I can't take it anymore. This house is falling apart around me. I am pitching stuff today. It is GONE....I do not have the patience for a yard sale. I do not have things that are worth keeping and reusing. They are taking up space and cluttering my house.

Out with the old and no money for new.

Feeling better and creative

I want to thank all my loyal blogsters and commenters for stopping by. I know things are whiny and boring lately in my life, but hey what can I say? I am a stay at home mom. There isn't much exciting about what I write about or what goes on each day. But I must say that I am thankful for that.

I need to post the rest of the Teacher Appreciation week gifts I made for the week as well as the grilled potatoes recipe I promised someone. So lets get started, as I will have to take off any minute now to put one down for a nap and get 2 up from bed. My day then begins....clean, play, feed, change diapers, clean, play, feed, clean, I said....boring and repetitive.

Teacher Appreication Week: I am crazy about it for a couple reasons. 1. I was a teacher for 6 would be hitting 9 if I wasn't still home. I rarely got a card thanking me for what I did. I had a rough job teaching students, both middle and high school, with learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, and autism. I LOVED my job more than most but once and awhile it would be nice to be thanked for what I did everyday. I dealt with chairs in the air, breakdowns of children who couldn't learn like others, tears, yelling, fighting, and when I got something from a student, I celebrated with him/her. I was positive 99.5% of my days for my students and would have done anything for them. I reached out, even when they pushed away. It is a tough job.

Some think that we get paid and that is enough, but a simple card that says "Thank you" (homemade better) is enough for any teacher to feel appreciated. So, I chose to do a gift each day during the week. The gifts did not cost me a lot of money, more of my time, but my son's education is worth it. Since he is in Kindergarten, he has a teacher and a teaching assistant. So I had to be creative.

Monday: First day of TA Week. Found this idea *HERE* and I went with it. I loved the idea of them getting something everyday. The author of this blog has super ideas but it would be more appropriate for 1st grade teachers and up. Therefore, I made this:

A water bottle with a door hanger that includes M&M's and a 4C Lemonade packet.

Tuesday: They had a field trip, and I got sick so I waited till Wednesday to give them Day 2 and Day 3 Gifts. I needed something that had 2 of something that they could always use. Hubby (also a teacher) suggested scissors since he always needs them). And I remembered a cute pack of pretty pens at the Dollar Tree for the Day 3. (Whatever the pictures won't flip and I just don't have the patience to deal with it lol). And I apologize for the crappy pictures but the sun isn't shining here so everything is so dark :(

Tuesday: Day 2: Cute pink scissors :) Two Blades for cutting!!

Wednesday: Day 3: Three pretty pens for grading!

Thursday: Day 4: Found this idea *HERE* I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics where luckily they had their fabric quarters on sale for .97 cents this week. I got 4 of them in cute patterns, some fabric glue, and ribbon. Then headed to Walmart where they had Lavendar Fields sachet beads for .97 a packet. I will be using left overs for Mother's Day gifts. So for 2 people, it cost me about $3 and I have leftovers for more gifts.

Four Sachets for my dresser

They smell SO pretty!!

Friday: Day 5: $5 giftcard to local coffee shop. I will take a picture of it tonight and update it tomorrow.

I will post my Grilled potatoes tutorial on the next blog. I gotta get a move on of my day or I will sit here and gain back my 4 lbs lost while I was sick lol. Till then...

Thank you God

shining Pictures, Images and Photos

Thank you God for the glorious sunshine that is peaking behind the big gray clouds. Your warmth helped to pick up my spirits and air out my house of all the nasty germs.

I thank you.

Sick day

I got a sick day today. I really didn't want one, but here I am. Sick.

Hopefully it isn't the swine flu. I looked at the symptoms and I paniced. But they said it wouldn't get better after 24 hours and I am already starting to feel better.

I had a rough night last night. After spending a lot of time in the bathroom last night, I went to the sink to wash my face, collapsed, and fell to the ground. I have a gash out of my leg and it hurts big time.

Hubby said he came and got me to the bed, where I proceeded to drop to the floor. I just remember falling in the bathroom and feeling confused of where I was. I was much more comfortable on the floor but felt my body dehydrating.

Not fun. Hubby stayed home to take care of me and Sydney and get Noah on the bus. I couldn't have made it without him.

Meanwhile, laundry is piling up and I need to get this house disinfected. I pray to God my children do not get this. :(

The weekend..sorry it is a long one!

The weekend was exhausting, yet very fun.

On Saturday, I drove up to PA (the trip is only about an hour an a half long) to drop off Noah to my dad (Pappy) and pick up my Mom (Mimi). Syd, Mom, and I headed to a baby shower. It was nice seeing some of the people from my and hubby's hometown. But I was looking forward to just getting back to my Mom's to relax.

The rain held off on Saturday, so I was able to hang out on her front porch and enjoy the pond and garden. The kids had fun running around with the dogs and goat, until Noah kicked us out.
Seriously. He kicked us out. He wanted his time with Pappy and Mimi, as he was spending the night. They were getting ready to leave to head to the campground to visit with my brother Mike and his wife Ashley. So, Syd and I headed into town. I took the opportunity to spend time with Sydney. Just her and I. My time with just her is very limited even with me being home. I treasured the time with her and I saw a big difference in her personality being alone without the big brother.

Syd and I went to my favorite little pizza joint in town. She sat across from me. My little girl. My almost 3 year old little girl. We sat and chatted and giggled. (hold on...tears...for real).

She ordered pizza on her own and I got a turkey sub. We ate and giggled some more. She was such a good girl. So in tune to everyone around her. So in tune to our conversation. I loved it.
I tried to call my grandfather but he wasn't home. So, I took Syd up to visit with her Great Grandparents on Hubby's side of the family. They got to see Syd sparkle as well being on her own. She played with Great Grandma's baby dolls and got spoiled with lollipops by Great Grandpap. They enjoyed their time with Syd and Syd had fun with them. Family is just SO important.

Syd and I then hit the road (after getting a chocolate milk to share) for the trip back to WV. She watched Cinderella the whole way home.

Hubby and I cuddled on the couch Saturday night while Syd played with her dollhouse. The house was very quiet.

Sunday: Syd, Hubby and I got up around 9 and packed the car for our trip back to PA. We picked up Noah from Pappy and Mimis. He told us all about the things he learned. Pappy taught him how to use a tape measure to measure things. So, Noah was measuring EVERYTHING! *chuckle* Even the dog's tail. Uncle Mikey taught him how to make a safe, good campfire. Noah compared his awesome fire to everyone elses in the campground, he got to sleep with Mimi, color, and play. He built things with Legos with Pappy, and a million other things. He treasured his time with his Pappy and Mimi and I know they loved it too :)
Then the 4 of us headed out to Hubby's parents (Grandma and Pap's) house (about 20 mins from my parents). The kids played outside, fed the chickens and baby chick, smelled the flowers, watched the fish in the pond, and Syd got her birthday presents from them. She got the cutest Hello Kitty rain boots and an adorable dress. She wore her rain boots the rest of the day! They had a good time!
Finally, we headed back into town for Hubby's little cousin, Ashley's Sweet 16 birthday party. It rained off and on, but all the kids had a good time playing different things outside. Syd and Noah played with Grandma most of the time. I played awhile till I got sick in my stomach. It was all because I ate TERRIBLY and paid for it. Big. Time.

Grandma and Syd playing ball

Noah and Syd playing

The birthday girl in the middle :)

My Sweet Syd

We headed home to WV around 5:30 and got home at 7. I was grumpy and sick. But the nap in the car on the way home perked me up.

So, I worked on the gifts for Noah's teachers. I made a door hanger with a pocket on the front to hold a bag of M&M's and a 4C Lemondade drink packet and hung it on a water bottle. This is for Day one of Teacher Appreciation Week!!

More T.A. Week Ideas to come!

  • Sump pump is running NONSTOP. Hopefully no flooding with all the rain we are to get all week.
  • I work online Tuesday-Friday nights.
  • My Mom's birthday is Friday.
  • I ate terribly all weekend. Did have my water each day except Sunday. No exercise.
  • Our Veggie garden is half done. Need to finish once the rain slows down.

Have a great Monday. Sorry about the long post. Had a lot going on.

Very few things ruffle my feathers. But this did.

Prior to my staying home with my children, I was a high school teacher for 3 years and then a middle school teacher for 3 years. And when this hit the news last night, it struck way to close to home. Close as in geographically and in what I used to do and love to do. READ THIS so you know what I am talking about.

I can't in a million years understand or comprehend why anyone in ANY position would EVER do anything with a child. It sickens me and my heart breaks. I have no other words but that I am disturbed. I taught children and it angers me that this woman did this. Sick. Bitch.

People like this give teachers a terrible reputation. People. Suck.

I better stop before I blow up my laptop.

Day 19

I really do not want to discuss my day yesterday. Let me sum it up by saying this:

Allergy headache
Lazy Ass
Ate like a Hog
Watched too much TV
List of things to do multiplies
Good eating day till the afternoon
Big Bacon cheeseburger and Cheese sticks
Drank 64 oz water
No exercise
Feel like crap
Visited with my friend Mary and watched Greys
Hubby kept me up with coughing and snoring
I moved to spare bedroom
Woke up at 5 am to son having nightmare of Lions
He peed the bed
Allergy headache
I changed it and slept with him till 6:15
6:15 awake and ready for the day.

This is not a complaint, because I can't stand when I complain because truthfully happy and blessed. I can't complain since I was able to sit on my butt yesterday feeling the way I did. I don't get a day off, so sometimes when I feel that way, I "give" myself an easy day. Today is a better day already, so CHEERS to a good day :)
