We did some pickin...

And it wasn't our noses!! :)

We went with some neighbors/friends blueberry picking this evening. It was absolutely beautiful outside for the adventure through the blueberry fields. The blueberries were at a delicious ripened stage and I think they should have weighed me before and then after cuz I ate quite a few!! They were de-LISH-ous!! I have about 6 pints of blueberries. Some frozen and some I left out for blueberry pancakes tomorrow morning for breakfast!!

Before Syd started her dose of daily whining and Noah began his bug hunting down the rows, we grabbed some great pictures.

Look at that sky!!! GORGEOUS!

Fabulous Weekend

You know those great weekends that you never want to end?
The ones that you want the time to stop. The moments you wish you would last forever?
This weekend was full of weekends like that.
Hubby and I took the kids back home for a long extended weekend with friends and family.
It was non-stop adventure, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Friday: We got to PA around lunchtime. We met with the groom and one of the groomsman for lunch. They then went golfing and I went out to my Grandfather's house to hang with the kids. I chatted with him on the porch swing while the kids played. I love my time with him. After I picked Hubby up from golfing (who was wasted from shots cuz he lost). We dropped the kids off at my Mother-in-laws so they could spend the evening with their Grandma. They had a blast playing outside, taking a walk, and eating chocolate chip pancakes. Hubby went to the rehearsal & dinner. I went out to my parents and just spent time with my Mom & Dad. I enjoyed the quiet time outside in the gazebo by the pond. So quiet and relaxing. Then, my Mom and I went out to pick up the kids. When I got back, I got to spend time with an old high school friend, Jasmine, and my family laughing around the campfire.

Saturday: We got up, had a delicious breakfast made by my father. (I have now named their house as Brookside Bed & Breakfast). We slept good, ate well, and the kids had so much fun playing by the pond. Hubby & Noah caught 2 tadpoles and a salamander for his tadpole container. We are going to watch them grow and change! Hubby and I then got ready for his best friend's wedding and then headed out.

The wedding was beautiful and the reception was fun. Hubby had a blast with old friends, and we had a great time together with the kids.

Sunday: We got up, had another delicious breakfast made by my father, and hung out with family. Noah was up by 9 and was catching more bugs. He found this beautiful Luna Moth.

He amazes me with his eye for insects. He finds things that we pass by all the time because we are too busy to look for. My brother and his wife smoked a pork loin, my mom made sides, and we ate together on my Mom & Dad's front porch. Wonderful. The only word to describe it.
Now I am home and back to the normal routine of life. Laundry, picking up toys, and dishes. All my favorites.

Random thoughts

You all know how I am by now...either virtrually or personally, so here are some random updates and thoughts.....

1. The slugs are back. Nasty as can be. I am making my trip after the weekend to Lowes and getting slug remover.....isn't that salt??? *chuckle* If you don't remember my prior blogs last year click here....you will be amazed! They are back bigger than ever.

2. Hubby and I are heading to PA for the weekend. Hubby's best friend, Frank, is getting married and he is in the wedding. I am so excited because I get to spend time with my Mom Friday night, as the kids are spending time with the in-laws. Then, we will be enjoying our time together at Frank's wedding Saturday. The kids will then get to spend time with my parents. I am so excited for our little "getaway" this weekend!!

3. My parents, my grandfather, the 4 of us are heading to Myrtle Beach on July 11. It is our usual summer vacation spot for the last 7 years, but this year my parents are joining us. I am so excited!!!

4. I missed cub scouts tonight. I had to work online and Hubby was supposed to take my place for the pack meeting and he forgot!!! I forgot to remind him. I feel so guilty for missing, but my plate is full, and I am volunteering. Besides, none of the pack was able to come tonight but Noah and Hubby, so no harm done. But the guilt eats me alive.

5. We are enjoying the pool almost on a daily basis. I love that Hubby and I get the entire summer together with the kids. We are so spoiled and are grateful for this time.

6. I bought a new dress for tomorrow. I am so excited. I will post some pictures later from the wedding. As you all know, I am not a shopper. I do not spend money unless it is on my kids, so this is exciting for me!!

Happy Anniversary my love

Now only if you loyally read my blog Hubby you would see how read about how much I love you. But since the only thing you do loyally is play Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, I will claim my love for you to myself and my readers.

Happy Anniversary babe.

This picture was from college...right before we married. I am searching the tubs in the basement for my wedding pictures to share. We got married when there was no digital pictures, so I have to locate and scan. Gotta love it! I do have one of my friends and I scanned in my computer. I cropped my high school friends out so you could just see my beautiful-ness HA!

Nine years.

Nine years of growing together, challenges, learning about each other, making dreams come true, and finding our paths in life.
But, not all of them were wonderful. I know I am not alone. I would be amazed if you could say that all your years of marriage were wonderful. If you can, then I will give you my right arm. Platted in gold. Wrapped in diamonds. Yep. I am that confident.

Overall, I must say that he makes me a happy wife and woman. I love him more and more each day. I mean that.

He amazes me with his humor and his hard work ethic. He is an incredible father (even though he forgets to feed them dinner and only gives them milk cups). He makes them laugh, they feel safe in his arms, and always knows how to make them laugh. Thank you for being my rock, the love of my life, and always being there.

My friend and fellow blogger, Debby, over at Adventures of a Wanna be Supah Mommy took pictures of herself in her wedding dress after 8 years of marriage. I took on the challenge and pulled it out!! OH how hilarious!! I should have done my hair and makeup first, but tis what it is!! Me.

Before....June 24, 2000

and after....June 24, 2009 (I even added in a basket of laundry that needs put away just for your viewing pleasure!)

Yep...believe it or not...I may be a little chunkier than in 2000, but the dress fits!!! Hence, I have filled out some parts a lot more and some back fat is hanging out and over, but it zipped without busting and I am in my wedding dress!!! Even the dog was impressed! Noah thought I was beautiful! God love him!

and Evil Twin's Wife...how is this for a boobage shot.....

Hubby was impressed. He thought I looked better now than back in the day! Another reason I love him.

Father's Day Camping Trip

A friend of mine through my Mom's Group, LeeAnn, came up with a great idea to go to Greenbriar State Park for an overnight camping trip for Father's Day. So, Amy, LeeAnn, and I packed up our kids and hubbys and headed there Sunday into Monday for a night of fun.

After getting there we checked out the beach, made lunch, and picked our campsites. During lunch, the kids made their way to the playground, where a nest of yellow jackets was stirred up. Sydney went down the slide and was stung on the face and leg multiple times. I wasn't sure how she would react, so Amy gave me Benadryl and Motrin just in case. She was scared for a while and was hurting but thank God it happened early because she quickly forgot.

Tents were popped, camp was set up, and the kids started to play. Life. Was. Good.

We wrote down some of the things that were said during the trip. Hubby took my car and I have them in the car. I will update later with those. They are too funny!!!

On Monday, we headed down to the beach after taking down the tents and such. We didn't last long thanks to the bird who woke Syd up at 6:15 that morning. She was whiny and crabby and I couldn't take it any longer. The rest hung around all day. I was not going to be miserable all day when all she needed was a nap. But we had a great time!!!

Happy Father's Day to my hubby. You are simply the best.

All eyes on me.

Yep. I attempted a trip to Wal-mart over lunchtime with 3 whiny children.

Three you ask? I have my two and a little girl I babysit. Ages 6, 3, and almost 2.
Thank God my dear friend, Amy (one of 20 thousand Amy friends), met me there as she had a very pricey prescription to drop off. She had her sweet, lovely 5 month old and I was the one with the 3 whiny children.
I looked like the most WHITE TRASH Mama in all the country today. I became what I have always dreaded. The mother with 3 screaming children in the middle of Wal-Mart. You ask yourself, “Why didn’t she just leave?” No…I don’t just up and leave a place of establishment and let them win. They didn’t want to be there. I didn’t want to be there, but we had to be. So I quickly got the things I needed all the while forgetting the main reason I chose Wal-mart over my trusty grocery store.
Sunglasses.
Never went back and got them. I couldn’t take it anymore. I truly thought I was losing my mind. I felt impatient (Which is odd for me), embarrassed, and like the laughing stalk of every elderly lady there (whom I pictured were shaking their fingers at me).
I learned a few things on my trip today for future reference as I will be eventually, God willing, have 3 children of my own (but no way in HELL they will be a year apart).

1st mistake: Going to Walmart. Period.

2nd mistake: Going to Walmart over lunch. Hungry kids=impatient kids=mental breakdown of WT mother

3rd mistake: Getting one of those 2 seater carts with the buckles. 2 seats and 3 kids= disaster

4th mistake: Praising my son on how wonderful he has been. Ego boosting=oh that must mean I am in the clear to be naughty!

5th mistake: Letting the almost 2 year old out of the buckle since she was crying SO loudly through the store because I would not hold her while pushing the 2 seater cart which would not turn in any direction I wanted it too.

6th mistake: Going to Wal-mart. Period. Did I mention that already?

So, when I finally made it home, after running through the drive-thru to feed the whiny, hungry kids, I made my final mistake:

I took them to the pool.
What was I thinking???
As Hubby would say, “I would have just put them all in bed.”
I should listen.
I should not try to be WONDER White Trash Mother of the Year (WWTMY).
I really truly thought that eating lunch and time at the pool would allow them to relax and enjoy the crisp water as the temps are up to 88 in these parts.

Nope. Didn’t happen.
Instead I got:

Crying girls & clingy son who kept hanging on me as I had two crying girls who needed held.
My daughter who didn’t listen to her WWTMY who told her not to run and she did. She wiped out and scratched both knees on the concrete.
2 high schoolers came to the rescue with swabs and band aids and a paper to report the incident. Nice. I had to chuckle as my 3 year old, Syd, said, "I need to go to the doctor so she can make it better!"
After snack, I called it quits and we headed home.
It is nap time and I am contemplating the rest of my evening.
Noah and I have cub scouts, where we are making little First Aid kids. This will be a nice break for me.
Truthfully, this was just one bad day. It isn't every day it is like this, so I will remain positive. :)
For tomorrow is Friday!! And I have a day of baking pound cake for Pokeno Night and a cake for Father's Day, making homemade ice cream with the kids, and a new day!

Things said today

Do you ever feel like you say the same things to your kids everyday? And have you ever noticed that they eventually aren't effective?? Well, I kinda got sick of hearing my voice today since we were stuck inside and noted some of the things I constantly say. I was annoyed with myself as well. I finally realize how mentally UNstimulated my mind is being home.

1. Share please.
2. I said Share please.
3. Get down Dog!
4. Outside? to the dog
5. I love how we are all playing so nicely!
6. I love you.
7. You are such a good boy/girl.
8. What would I do without you? (to the kids lol)
9. Mommy just needs to go to the bathroom alone.
10. A bath again?
11. Stop fighting.
12. Time to eat!
13. Wash your hands.
14. Time OUT!
15. Clean it up! Clean it up! You can make it fun to do!
16. Eat your lunch.
17. Go to your room for 15 minutes till I say to come out.
18. Quiet time!
19. Wanna watcha some tv? PLEASE???!!!!
20. Go play on the playground.
21. You guys want to color or play play dough?
22. Let's play Ring Around the Rosie/ Hide and Seek

Now for the nice ones...

23. Can I please just unload the dishwasher without you up my butt?
24. Do you need wiped?
25. Hold on, you have boogies.
26. Seriously, can you put up the lid Noah?
27. Put your wrappers in the garbage children.
28. Err..there are things sticking to my feet! Didn't I just sweep?
29. Noah give it up....you have been bug hunting for 2 hours!
30. Syd, clean your room for crying out loud!

I am sure there is more. What do you find yourself saying to your kids EVERY DAY???

Some more things about me

Staci, a great friend, over at Playing House tagged me on an adorable award. So, I will play along even though this is SO embarrassing......I have to admit 7 personality traits about myself.
I can accept this award with the following conditions:
I must list 7 personality traits about myself and I must pass this award onto 7 other blogs that deserve such fine recognition for the personalities that they share with the blogging world.
Okay here it goes:
1. I have wonderful inspirations when I begin to do something but rarely follow through. For example, I start a Healthy lifestyle and drop it after I get bored. I started a second blog and couldn't keep up so I quit. I guess you could say I get bored quickly.
2. I am a procrastinator...but only because I get rewarded with it. I put things off and hope they disappear and I won't have to do it, and sometimes they do. But when it comes to the deadline, it is done and done wonderfully.
3. Which brings me to number 3. I HATE BEING LATE. I am either early or right on time. If I am late, I call and make sure you know I am running late. Promptness is my thang.
4. I like to go over the top when I do set my mind to something. I can't half-ass ANYTHING. Sometimes this is negative because it is time-consuming to make things so perfect, but I like it that way.
5. I am a worry-wart and nervous a lot. I worry about my kids, other people's kids, other people, etc. I hate this about me because I used to be very outgoing and all about new things but since I have been home, I noticed that I am less and less like that. I hate ordering pizza, making phone calls to unknown people (insurance, setting up appointments, etc). Hubby does it for me cuz I hate it. I'd rather email. :)
6. I overtrust people too quickly. I say how I feel and then it ends up biting me in the butt. I have been much better with this. There is only a few people who really know my secrets and how I feel about life.
7. I am too sentimental and sensitive. I treasure relationships and take it personally if you don't want to be my friend or stay in touch. So, I will just cut my losses if you don't cuz I just can't do it anymore. I don't do part-time.... I also hold onto anything that my kids make or are a part of so they always have it. That makes me a huge pack rat, until I go on one of my pitching rampages!
There you go. That is me in 7 traits. :) Take it or leave it.

Totally 80's Birthday Party

A friend's 40th birthday was Friday, so one of her friends, Stacey, threw a surprise party for her and the theme was The 80's! Of course I took this opportunity to dress up and enjoyed every moment of the flashbacks!!!
I hit up the local Goodwill store for a hot off the shoulder ensemble and did the poofy side ponytail.

I had a great time hanging with friends and celebrating LeeAnn's birthday. Fun times!

New Arrival

My backyard has been vacant for years. And lately things have been changing and developing. We first started by putting in a veggie garden which is slowly growing even with lack of love and nurishment. Yet, it is our first experimental garden from seed. It needs establishment, so this year it has begun.

Then, we filled our oh-so-small-postage-stamp-size yard with a huge playground. (I am definetly not complaining about the size of my yard because we don't to spend endless hours mowing and can spend the time doing more productive things with our children). But our yard now looks like we have kids, and I love it!

And today as my son was doing his daily ritual of bug hunting, when he spotted a Robin flying out from under our deck. He went to investigate and to his surprise...he noticed that we have a new arrival. One baby Robin and an unhatched egg. I give these babies about 3 days before the neighborhood cats find them. We have one cat (won't name any names...lol) whom is known for his hunting skills and eating of baby birds...and I pray that these adorable baby Robins survive. I want this Mama bird to come back! The kids now have a new lesson on baby birds and they get to watch them grow....I pray.

Summer has begun

Summer has officially come to a start here at 182. I am happy, yet sad because I will miss the two little girls I have grown to adore and love, but the idea that I get to sleep in tomorrow morning (sorry my love...who still has to get up at 6:00 am) is keeping a smile on my face. I am done babysitting for the summer and am focusing spending quality time with my kids, organizing, and DEEP cleaning my house.

My home has taken a beating this year. I watch my once brand new home fall apart each year I own it. It is now going on year 8 and you can see the wear and tear. It is so hard to keep up with right now with me not working outside the home. Things just fall to the bottom of my list of purchases. It took forever for us just to save for a playground, and now things like the appliances are beginning to die, carpet needs replaced with laminate, and furniture needs to be replaced. The bathrooms need new tile and caulking. I need to add organziers to the pantry and laundry room cuz as our family grows, so does the amount of stuff we own.

It is funny when we look back to when we moved in December of 2001, Hubby and I were childless. We bought this (what we throught was huge at the time) 2100 square foot, 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home. Since then, we have filled it with a dog and two kids. We even finished the basement with another bedroom and full bath. More rooms to clean, keep up with, and to fill with junk.

As you can see, the future of my summer is going to be filled with throwing junk away. My once 2 bags of garbage (thanks to recycling) will turn into 20 bags each week (unless it can be sold, given away, or recycled and most it is so worn out it can't be). I can't stand the clutter anymore. I hate finding something or getting something and then asking, "What am I going to do with this? Where should I put it?"

There she is...my plans for the summer. Somewhere in there I will do a lot of visiting with family and old friends, go on vacation, hang out at the pool, hang with my most awesome Mom friends, and just enjoy my time with my kids and Hubby. It starts this weekend as we are going to Pittsburgh to see my best friend from college. Her daughter is turning one! I can't even believe how fast time goes....Wait...wasn't that the title of my last post? Wow. It is amazing.

Have a great Tuesday and a better Hump Day tomorrow!

And it is COMPLETE!

OMG. It took forever, but it is complete and SO VERY MUCH worth it.

On Saturday, Hubby and I argued about why we needed a playground for our kids. Of course, I won. Psssst.....do not make that obvious that I wear the pants....he would just DIE ;)

My gracious neighbors, the Kellers, who seem to always have the smallest and biggest things you could ever need, let us borrow their Tahoe to head to Toys R Us to purchase the playground. That seemed to be the biggest issue with Hubby was getting it home. For a family who owns a Corolla (for his commuting) and a Matrix (a mini- Mini-Van), a playground would NOT fit.

So, they handed their keys over, put the seats down, and I followed Hubby to Toys R Us with both kids in pull.

We purchased the Big Backyard Sheridan (with much research) for a fabulous discount. The set was on a $100 sale, plus their 20% off coupon they had online for their wood gym sets, plus the 10% off for signing up for their card, we saved a BUTT load of money. My family also pitched in $100 out of the kindness of their hearts which brought the ending cost down.

This little, I mean HUGE, playground adventure would not have happened without my neighbors and family. They are the most unselfish, most helpful people in the world!!!

Once we got the playground loaded, safely returned home, and unloaded, the excitement began. As recommended by my pal, Supah D, and many others on the reviews, it was MOST helpful to do what I spent the next 4 hours doing........

SORT AND LABEL!!!

I took 2 hours to sort the 5,000,000 (and exaggeration, but pretty darn close) bolts, nuts, T-nuts, lock washers, washers, screws, pan bolts, carriage bolts, etc. etc. You get the point.

I put them together and labeled then in their own Ziploc baggy. This came in handy when going through the directions and we just had to find the baggy and go!

With a break to attend a neighbor's birthday party and after sitting around the fire and getting half wasted, I came home to begin sorting the 4 boxes of lumber and parts. I spent another 2 hours measuring and labeling the lumber with yard sale stickies. We kept those in their original boxes. This was also a huge help. (Of course as we went through the directions, I kept stating 'Thank goodness I sorted all this' lol. I wanted all the recognition I could get in this process :))

My brother, Andy, and my parents traveled down to help us out. With all 3 of them working the next day, I felt terrible, as they spent the entire day outside busting their butts in the heat. We worked from about 10:45 am till 8:00 pm with breaks and lunch and dinner. We made a fabulous team. Hubby would get the next couple steps set out and ready for us, Mom and I tackled the kids and making sure my brother and dad followed the directions, while they did the building. What's going to work? TEAM WORK!
Even Hubby and I completed the rock wall and ladder all by ourselves!
But it is up and almost complete. We only have to put together the canopy together and it will be 100%.
The kids had fun playing in the tube slide while we tried to figure it out. It kept them out of our hair for awhile. The box was a lot of fun too! lol.

Here it is...with all the sweat, dedication, and love that went into it.

Of course Mommy and Daddy remembered sunscreen on the kids but forgot to keep reapplying on ourselves!!
Thank you to all who assisted with their help, tools, and time. We love you all and the we appreciate you more than anything!! :)

Where does time go?

As usual, things seem to hit me at once. I used to be very sensitive and emotional, but I see how time seems to change those things. It usually takes quite a bit to get me crying, like the Season Finale of Grey's Anatomy, A Baby Story on TLC, and big moments with my children. Weddings don't even do it for me anymore. I used to sob at the smallest things, but I guess I have "toughened" up a bit.

Back at the beginning of my marriage, Hubby and I used to argue, I would sob and sob so hard I could barely breathe (dramatizing that my life and marriage were ending), but it has been YEARS since I have gotten to that point. Now I just say, "Honey, I'm over it. If it is that miserable, there's the door." And about 10 minutes later, we resolve our disagreements (which usually only have to do with me stating that I hate him going to poker so much. That is about all we find to argue about anymore.)

Well, sobbing was a major part of my evening and morning. I have ruled out hormones. So, the sobbing is just sobbing, not hard ass crying, just a sob sob sob....because a couple major things (major to me) have occurred.

1. Today was Noah bug's last day of Kindergarten. I can't even believe it. He will officially be a First Grader when he comes home today. Where does the time go?? I remember *this post* I did for his first day of kindergarten and it seems just like yesterday...really it does. Yesterday. And here he is heading out the door for his last day of Kindergarten! He has grown and matured so much this year. Last night Hubby and I sat and watched this cheesy video of him when he was two. I love to hear him babble and talk to me. I sob. And sob. And sob. He is now 6 and still as sweet and as amazing as when he was born.

Bye my Little Man. I am so proud of you. I will see you at 3:45 as a grown-up first grader!

Here is the video of Noah when he was two....listen carefully to his mumbling...he was trying so hard to get his words out. Those cheeks....I just wanna eat em up!

2. Sydney's big milestone has had me sobbing as well. Syd recently turned 3 and I swore when she was 2 that we would get rid of the binky, but Syd seems to do things on her own when she is ready, so forcing her or encouraging seems to slow the process...for example potty training. She did that when she turned 2. That was all by herself (with a little teaching by her big brother).

So the binky thing we knew would happen when she was ready. And she is ready. The last two days she has taken her naps without her binky...her precious binky. Wednesday night she went to bed without it and woke up at 3:30 asking for it. I took it in (because I am not fighting it since I knew she went to bed without it eventually she won't need it when she wakes in the middle of the night). She went back to sleep and woke up without it. It was under her crib. Last night she went to bed without it and never woke up asking for it. It is now 9:02 am and still haven't heard a peep. She did it!! No binky. My baby is now a big girl. :'(
I realize now I am ready for my final child more than anything. My kids are growing and I have that maternal desire to have just one more child. Watching them grow and become their own little person is a beautiful thing. Sob. Sob. Seriously...where does the time go?

What the heck...here is a video of Syd when she was ALL about her binky. I love this video except for my annoying voice. She was so little...only 18 months old and those cheeks....gosh I pray our future baby has those cheeks like Noah and Sydney. Figures that Blogger can't take a big ol' video over one minute...so it has to be Youtube.

Off to clean this wreck I call a home and get things ready for the fun-filled beautiful weekend ahead. I will be back to read all your blogs and see how life is going for you.

Updates once again

I am sad to say that my blog has been put at the bottom of my ABC list. I miss it but I have been so busy lately cramming in as much time with my kiddos and Hubby as humanly possible.

This weekend included playing in the hose with friends, shopping, going swimming, fishing, going tubing down the creek, riding bikes, taking walks, and just good ol' family time. I have had a permanant smile on my face the last few days and I hope it remains.

Updates: As I know I am not the only one spending less time posting blogs, reading blogs, etc....

1. I have lost 5 lbs in the last week. Total of 9 lbs since I started doing the "Healthy me" watch. 14 to go.....

2. Hubby got. some new clothes, so he is looking as sexy as ever.....

3. Sydney is riding her big girl bike like a champ and loves being outside with her big brother. She has been whiny lately, having problems sharing, and needing Mommy time.

4. Noah is practicing how to be a good Cub Scout and it doesn't take much because he is a natural.

5. He and a friend caught a small toad in the neighbor's garden, so we got him a Frog/bug habitat at Target to keep him alive. We have been getting a kick out of watching him eat the flys and moths. So cool!!!
