Summer 2010 is here!

Summer has begun in our household and this will be a much better summer than last year!

Since my last post, so much has happened and frankly I don't want to waste your time filling you in so I will start right here, today.

Syd is picking on her brother, who is trying to play with his Star Wars toys and he is constantly yelling, "SYDNEY!" at the top of his lungs. I am hiding upstairs in my bedroom with my dog and my laptop.
Today started out pretty well, I got the kids ready for the day, went to Syd's Pre K screening, went to the recycyling center with a car load, and took the kids to the bookstore. We came home around 12:00 and I thought it was going that silence? That could only mean one of two things....they are getting along or they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. I will go with the latter of the two.

But then bad could it be?

This school year went well. I had a great time starting over with my old school. I fell right back into place. For the most part things didn't change much. The special education part did a bit with IEPS and what not, but I caught back on. I had a fabulous year and it was such a wonderful feeling having that everyday thing for myself again. I felt like I was a better Mom the moments I was home with my own kids. I have also starting utilizing my time better. Still as forgetful as ever of course. The Mommy disease has hit me full force working full time again.
However, I won't be returning next school year to my old school. :( My husband and I have been through a lot this winter and spring and we decided that the best thing we can do for our family would be for me to work full time again. I need it for myself and the money will be nice. Noah is going into second grade and Syd is starting Pre-K, so there isn't much for me to be home anymore except maybe losing my mind. I got a new job for the fall and I am pretty excited about it. I am going to an elementary school in the same county. It will be fun to change it up a bit. It is a little shorter of a drive and I know a couple people already there, so I am pretty pumped. I will miss everyone this year at the old school, but I might be back...I seem to always come back ;)

In other news:
Noah had a great year in first grade. He ended the school year with straight A's for the entire year. We are so proud of his accomplisments! He is such a good boy. Noah turned 7 in April and had his birthday party with 7 of his closest friends at the movie theater. They saw, "How to Train Your Dragon". He is taking a break from Cub Scouts for the summer because we are going to be constantly running here and there and he is beginning basketball this Saturday. I just can't put him on overload any longer. He complains that he doesn't have time to just play, and I think that is more important at age 7 than being in 3,000 activities. So, he is excited about basketball and swimming in the pool all summer!

Sydney loved being at my neighbor's house for the school year. Her BFF and she played and played their hearts away. She is growing up so fast! I just took her to that Pre-K appointment and she didn't want to leave! She said, "I am going to school. You can go now Mommy!" I think she was a little disappointed when I told her it would be a few months till it is time for school. She had her first dance recital this past May. She also turned 4 in May and had her birthday party at the recreation center in the open gym area. She loved it!!

Cheers to a great summer with family and friends!
Looking forward to a better 2010!

February 2010 Snowstorm

We have been out of school now for way too long. I am loving it, because I am getting things organized and cleaned, but this cabin fever is setting in! And now after they have finally gotten the 33 inches of snow slightly plowed and moved off the main highways, forecasters are calling for another 10-15 inches tonight. It has been years since we have seen this much snow and even longer for this much all at one time!

The kids, Hubby, and I have been having fun since we have been out of school since Friday the 5th and we sit here waiting for the next storm and it is Tuesday the 9th. Some roads are passable, but not great. So, we have been killing time playing in the snow and cleaning. I have been scrapbooking with my neighbor several nights and have gotten some pages done, so it hasn't been terrible.

Pinewood Derby Race

Noah had his first Pinewood Derby Race for Cub Scouts on Thursday night. At first he wasn't very excited when given a block of wood and some wheels. He has never seen a Derby race or heard of it, so he didn't know what to expect.

After cutting it out, he still wasn't interested.

He painted it, but now it was a painted cut out piece of wood.

Then we added the decals and the wheels. Then finally, he saw the end product he was so excited! He practiced racing it through the house and talked about the race.

It became real when we got to the meeting and saw the track set up. He was so excited. I am proud to report even though we didn't have the best car there, it wasn't the worse. We didn't even come in last place, but were eliminated pretty quickly lol. And we made it across the finish line!!! But he didn't care because at the precious age of 6, he was proud to just get the ribbon!

Here are some pictures:

Ear piercing

*Private blog will be starting on the next blog* I need to have find some time to sit down and make it private, as it will take some time.

On Tuesday, January 19th, we finally took Sydney to get her ears pierced. She has been asking and asking to have "rings" like Mommy since Christmas, so after waiting and hoping she would change her mind, we gave in.
I am SO glad we waited till she was old enough to decide to do it because it was a lot of fun taking her, her picking out the earrings she wanted, and get excited about being a "big girl". She picked the pink earrings, of course :) The woman said 3 and 4 is a good age because they don't really know yet that it is going to hurt. And a perk is we found a store that would do it 2 at a time, so we didn't have to fight for the second one. She only cried for about 45 seconds till they gave her a lollipop but cried for 30 minutes after they showed her in the mirror because she wanted 4 "rings" like Mommy!!! We had to distract her and take her out of the mall!!! All that pain and she wanted MORE!! :) She is my tough cookie!

She has been doing well with the cleanings of her ears and I find her in the bathroom staring at her "rings".

Preparations for the piercing......

After the piercing......

After the lollipop.....

After the mirror and seeing there was only2 piercings.....

Going private

Hey everyone. I am going to go private with my blog because I don't update enough and I keep getting bizarre comments from spam etc.

I also fear that students will google me and find my blog as they have already tried to be my "friend" on FB, so this is best for now.

I won't take it personally if you are done following me especially if I go private, because I know how annoying it can be to log in etc. I will continue to update and post and follow all of you. So thank you for your long time commitment to my blog and rambling. I appreciate it. A lot. More than you know.

So this is my last public post.

Home Improvement continues....

The floors are still a work in progress. We are ALMOST done with the entire first floor and I am in heaven. I have dreamed of having the carpet GONE and now that it is..I couldn't be happier. Dad, Mom, and my Grandfather have come down many a weekends to work with us to get them done and we are down to just one hallway and the trim. One more day of work and it will be complete.

I have also been working to update the house as far as decor goes. Little by little my house is moving from 2001 to 2010. Funny how fast time goes when you think back on how old things really are.....

My inspiration this month goes to my kiddos. We took them to get their pictures taken and they turned out amazing. So amazing that they became my inspiration for my breakfast nook. I then found a cute wood cut saying at Kirklands for $15 and it made the wall perfect! Sorry for the crooked picture I took but I wanted to share.

I also painted my staircase wall an olive green color and have plans on purchasing the perfect wall decor for that...still searching for it. I will search till I find it :)

Other than that, I am enjoying the spare moments I have with my kiddos and hubby. Life has been good, so no complaints. Only happy times.

Missing you all,

All I want for Christmas....

On December 23, 2009, Noah lost his second front tooth. I was so excited because he could actually sing, "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY TWO FRONT TEETH!!"
He was adorable and I took so many pictures of him without his teeth because it was another priceless moment for me.

The tooth fairy came and brought him $2 for the front tooth. A very important tooth!!

He is growing up so fast!!
